Laugh and the world laughs with you...

Laugh and the world laughs with you.
Cry and you cry alone.
So if you're gonna pout, stay at home.

Just found out he passed away. I am honored to have worked with him. Here is the last transcription I helped him with:

An Enlightening Discourse Regarding the Indescribableness of God-the Indescribable One.

The only difference between being enlightened and not enlightened is: when you're not enlightened your fucked and don't know it, when you're enlightened you're fucked and you know it!

He or she who doesn't ask questions is BIG DUMBELL.

God is “no-thing”, which means nothing. Can you imagine nothing? How are you going to define nothing? If God is nothing, what's there to talk about? If you can talk about it, that ain't it! I can turn right around and say, that which has to proved cannot be worth much. Do you need proof of God? Would you light a torch to see the sun? How could you ever doubt there's a God? Every time you look in the mirror there is God. Everything you see, hear, taste, touch or smell is God. And all that you can't fathom is God. God is all around you- IN EVERY FIBER OF YOUR BEING. God is beginningless and endless, omnipresent, never changing, never moving, forever One.

I hear much talk of God in the world today, what shall I say of God? And who is the holy one and very truth? Think now of a heart that contains all your hearts, and a love that encompasses all your love, a spirit that envelopes all your spirits, a voice enfolding all your voices, and a silence- deeper than all your silences, and timeless. SEEK NOW to percieve in your selffullness a beauty more enchanting than all things beautiful. A song more vast than all the songs of the sea and the forest. A majesty seated upon a throne, for which that configuration of stars we call the Milky Way, is but a footstool. Holding a scepter, the emblem of authority, for which the largest constellation of stars in the sky are nothing, save the glimmer of dewdrops. And if my words are a confusing riddle, then seek none the less, that your hearts may be broken and that your questionings may lead you on to the love and wisdom of the most high that whom call God. And if you are perplexed in your heart, so what? Just remember, that perplexity is the beginning of wisdom. You would rise in your imagination onto the heavens above, and you consider this the great heights? And you would pass over the vast sea and claim it to be distance. But I say unto to you, when you sew a seed into the earth, you reach the greater heights. When you hail the beauty of the morning to your neighbor, you cross a greater sea. Too often do you think God the Infinite, yet you hear not the song. But would that you might listen to the songbirds, and to the leaves that forsake the branch when the wind passes by. And forget not, my friends, that the leaves sing only when they are separated from the branch. Again, I bid you to speak not so freely of God, who is your all, but speak rather and understand one another, a neighbor unto a neighbor, a God unto a God.

It is only when you are lost in your smaller selves, that you seek the sky which you call God, would that you might find paths in your vast Self. Would that you might be less idle, and tend to the garden in your own backyard. My friends, it would be far wiser, to speak less of God- whom we cannot understand- and more of each other, whom we may understand. Yet I would have you know, we are the breath and fragrance of God. We are God in leaf, in flower, and oftentimes in fruit. Amen- may it be so. Hallelujah! Praise be to the Holy One!!

THE TRANSFORMATION OF LAVERNE LOBDELL

TO REVEREND FRIENDLY:

THE UNCONVENTIONAL,VERSATILE, JOYFUL, CHRISTIAN YOGI

1. First off, I don't like long drawn-out introductions. They bore me. This one will be as short, sweet, and to the point as possible. Let me begin by telling you where I'm at on my spiritual journey. I have attained a state of consciousness where I fully realize that I'm not in charge. I'm not the CAPTAIN OF THE SHIP. As a matter of fact, I, of myself, can do nothing. The spirit within me performs the work which is appointed for me to do, and goes before me to make the crooked places straight and the rough places smooth.

-2-

2. Call me not a Master. I have no desire to be a Master. I am but a living lesson, one of many teachers. I have come to teach you and all humankind the lessons of the True Master. Listen to me, and teach your brothers and sisters that which I will reveal to you. Tell them they and the Master are One. And that they should look for the True Master within their own being. Serve this Master with ALL your being, for this is the True Master !

3. Having realized the True Master within, the peace of the one True Master will settle upon you. Offer all your work and its rewards to this Master, for this is the True Master.

4. Tell them also, that the Kingdom they seek is within each of them. Show them by being a living lesson, not just by hollow words. Teach them by your example the greatest lesson of all TO LOVE A STRANGER AS THEY WOULD LOVE THEMSELVES.

-3-

5. Now listen up! And pay close attention. I have something special for you: The Cream of the Crop of the wisdom of the ages! I have a storehouse in my old noggin, FILLED right to the brim with precious jewels, gems and pearls of wisdom, selected from the greatest minds of recorded time. Now it took me 50 years to accomplish this feat. Periodically, in and out of jail-houses, prisons, detoxification centers and funny farms. In prison jargon, that's called doing life on the installment plan. Oh well, philosophically speaking, the shortest distance between two points is not always a straight line. All good fruits ripen slowly. And as my old buddy Frederick Nietzsche once said, “Slow is the experience of all deep wells. Long must they wait before they know what fell into their depths...” Goddamn, Nietzsche makes you put your thinking cap on!

6. I love to emphasize! Just because emphasization of verbal expressions be of the utmost importance. It can lead to realization. In fact, what is emphasized and incorporated into one's being does lead to within one's being, does lead to realization, if done with integrity and a pure heart. So let me repeat Nietzsche's words,” Slow is the experience of all deep wells. Long must they wait before they know what fell into their depths!”

7. And now the time has come for me speak bluntly, and tell it like it really is. We are living in a Capitalistic, Mercenary, Monetary, Ultra-materialistic, predominately spiritually dead, intellectually bankrupt society, that is endangering the integrity of Humanity. What an ignominious, shameful mess ! But please don't fret. Don't despair. This is just the dark and gloomy side of the story. Here's the bright side! Listen up and hear the GOOD NEWS!!!

8. WITH EYES NEWLY OPENED, EARS UNFAMILIAR WITH SOUND, AND MINDS NOT YET TOTALLY CORRUPTED, today's youth yet has the potential for building a better world. The first step in this direction is for young people to discover, nurture, cultivate and perfect their God-given talent !

9. From my own experience, which is by far the greatest teacher there is: no question about that ! From my own experience, the most awesome, exhilarating, soul-lifting experience, is when you are able to share your God-given talent, so to speak, “the real you,” with another person, to make a connection to touch someone's soul. And for a while, become like-minded, kindred spirits, vibrating somewhat on the same wave-length. Hallelujah ! Praise be the Holy One!
-5-

10. Next step on our journey and just as important. Whatever you do in life, do it willfully, joyfully, and with love, even if you don't like doing it ! You should always finish everything you do with a sense of accomplishment of a job well done ! Always remembering that anything done just as a means to an end, is not of very high quality.

11. One of the most spiritually debilitating things is to have to have to go through life doing something that's really not your thing. In other words, doing something you don't really like to do, 'just' to (in order to) make a living. And how many of us have been, and still are, caught in THAT trap ? ! ? ! ! ! ! Now what is absolutely necessary to really realize that the EGO is a real monster.

12. We toss that word EGO around like a rubber ball, (like we know what we are talking about !) But how many of us really know all there is to know about the EGO ? The EGO is a terrible tyrant. We must persevere and work ceaselessly and tirelessly to de-throne that demon.

-6-

13. Egoism, complacency, and self-importance that makes you heavy, clumsy and dull. And the more egoic, complacent, and self-important you are, the heavier, clumsier and duller you are ! Now the derivative of the ego is the internal dialogue, which Eckhardt Tolle depicts, in his brilliant masterpiece, The Power of Now, as that voice in your head that pretends to be you, and never shuts up. From my own personal experience, the internal dialogue just goes on and on and on and on, in an endless blather of inconsequential, nonsensical, highfalutin bullshit.

14. In my own case, I haven't been able to turn off the internal dialogue, entirely and altogether. But I have reached a point where I can turn it off at will, until it comes back of its own accord. That's the best I can do at this time. But I figure like this, if I ignore the damn thing, if I don't pay any attention to it, then I'm not attached to it. At least I can deal with it. What a glorious day that will
be !

15. Now, it's been documented that around 2500 years ago the Chinese Taoist sage and wise man, Lao Tzu, once said, “We have two minds, a shining mind, and a human, wandering mind. The brighter the shining mind shines the more enlightened it becomes, the more the human-wandering mind wanderers, the more confused and mixed-up it becomes.”

16. Next comes the great paradox of Time. We all tow the mark to time, yet in reality, there is no such thing as time. Time is an illusion, a human concoction. Time has no validity as far as the universe is concerned. Yesterday is today's memory. Tomorrow is today's dream. They don't exist. Wait just a minute here, I'd better check myself. There is time, but only in the conventional world. So, if you are reminiscing about the past, or dreaming of the future, you can't be in the here and the now. Here's the whole ball of wax, the whole works in a nutshell. The here and now is all there is, and the here and now and eternity are one and the same, the “eternal now,” which equals God. And God is all there is.

17. SO BE HERE NOW ! But, how in the HELL are you going to be in the here and now if you are “attached” to the internal dialogue. You can't, and neither can anyone else, that I know of. Just so long as you are attached to the internal dialogue, you will never see the Kingdom of Light. And why not? I'll tell you why not. Non-attachment to the internal dialogue is the golden key that unlocks the gates to the Kingdom of God, where you shall attain spiritual illumination. And dwell forevermore in the eternal bliss of the peace that passes all understanding, the equivalent of Nirvana in Buddhism and Samadhi in Hinduism.

18. But, I can't leave you hanging like this. It is not hopeless. There is hope, along with a lot of work, there is hope. The Christian-Yoga Song of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit, can help you along your spiritual path, whatever your path may be. Listen to the Music of the spoken word from The Christian Yoga Song of God.

19. There is a Yoga of constant Oneness, a communion which is ever One. But your mind is “inconstant,” and in its restlessness you cannot find rest. Your mind is restless, impetuous, self-willed, hard to train. Why to master your mind seems just as difficult as to master the mighty winds! But by constantly practicing the “quietude” of your mind and freedom from passions, your mind in truth can be trained! Now when your mind is not in harmony, out of tune, this divine communion is very difficult if not impossible to attain ! BUT when your mind is in harmony and in tune, it can be attained. If you know, and if you strive. Now you may ask yourself, “But if I strive and fail, and reach not the heights of Yoga, what then shall befall me? Far from earth? And far from heaven? Wandering on the pathless winds, shall I vanish like a cloud into thin air, not having found the path of God?” Fear not, you are on the road to freedom. And neither in this world nor the world to come shall you ever pass away. For when you do the good you never tread the path of death, but you shall dwell for innumerable years in the Heaven of those who did good, and then because you failed in Yoga, you are born again in the House of the good and the Great, and you begin your new life with the wisdom of a former life, and you begin to strive again, ever onward toward perfection for your former yearning, and struggle irresistibly carries you onwards. And even if you merely yearned for Yoga, you go beyond the words of books. And thus ever-striving,

and with your heart and soul cleansed of all impurities, you attain perfection through many lives and reach the goal supreme. So become a Yogi, a Christian Yogi, for then you go beyond those who only follow the path of words, or of silence, or of work. And you can be a great Christian Yogi if you just keep the faith and love God with all your heart and soul.

20. In conclusion, William Blake said, “Whoever generalizes is an idiot !” So, we all must be idiots, since we all generalize ! It's just a matter of degree. But at least, if we do generalize, we should always remember, the exceptions
to the rule. And I'm living proof, there are exceptions to the rule... The proof is in the pudding. I lived through it all, and am here to tell you about it all ! I am also living proof that, not very often, but once, once in a great while, if you don't kill yourself first, that the path of excess, though I wouldn't recommend it, can lead you to the temple of wisdom. Put that in Popeye's pipe and smoke it ! Hallelujah ! Praise be to the Holy One.
